In The Beginning…
Capturing beauty at Mt Beauty!
Since I was a child, I knew I wanted to take photos. I would hold my finger and thumb into a view finder and take an imaginary photo whenever something tickled my eye.
At 10, my aunty gave me my first digital point and shoot camera. This was upgraded by the time I was 18 and I entered the local council’s first youth photography competition. I was announced as the winner and was given my prize- a Canon DSLR camera!!

I was offered some photography and videography opportunities with the connections I made via the council- photographing events, running school holiday photography workshops, being on the judging panel for other photography competitions and creating short videos for the community health centre.
In 2016, I went to India and was asked to photograph all the children at the special school we were visiting to send an updated photo to their sponsors around the world.

In 2017, I made calendars from photos I took during Autumn at Mt Macedon and sold them in some local shops and to friends and family. My calendars made it as far as the UK, Holland and America!
Circa. 2017
I’ve photographed friends, family, events, births and weddings here and there for the last 10 years, but Simple Photography became a dream of mine in 2023.
What if I had a photography business where the clients came to me? What if I choose the day, time and place and let people know they could book a timeslot? What if there are families out there who can't afford 'professional' photography? What if I could bring joy via captured memories with equipment and skills that I already have? What if I could have a side hustle that combined many of my creative passions??
As Simple Photography unfurls it’s wings in 2025, I look forward to the many connections that will be made and the stories that will be shared. I want this little business to be more than just pretty photos and I can’t wait to share my plans with you!
